Cutting backstage, we found XIX’s interviewer Amy Porter standing next to one of the fans favorite, at least judging by the reaction the fans had when they saw Trinity Thompson. Already dressed in her handmade ring gear, the young wrestler had an unusually serious look on her face, a clear contrast to the jovial and cheery mood she’s usually in. Amy noticed it too, and that was the first question she asked the pint-sized girl.
Amy Porter: “Trinity… How are you doing? I know this summer has been… Eventful to say the least.”
Being the consummate professional that she is, Amy did her homework on her guest, catching up with what happened to her since her last appearance for the company. And boy, it was a lot. Thompson let out a sigh, instinctively caressing her neck.
Trinity Thompson: “You can say that, Amy… As if getting kidnapped and tortured by the nutjob cultist a few months ago wasn’t enough, I recently got hung in my last match in MWE. Fun times, said nobody ever.
Slowly, she seemed to shift back to her usual demeanor. The hint of a smile even appeared on her face.
Trinity Thompson: But I got plenty of time to heal up, and I am now back to 100%.
Amy Porter: Well, that’s a relief. I saw the footage and all that was quite scary. It’s a good thing that you’re at the top of your game because your opponent tonight is no slouch. One month ago, she gave the Darkhorse champion a run for her money.
Trinity didn’t think too much over it and quickly replied.
Trinity Thompson: Yeah, and I beat Josie Wales later that same night. No disrespect toward Anna, of course, but I feel like I proved myself plenty here in XIX. I got this close to win the big one, and that was basically the one slip up I had here. One I’m planning to correct real soon.
Porter caught the drift and immediately proceeded to ask.
Amy Porter: Are you laying down a challenge to MUD?
Trinity Thompson: Nahhh
She immediately replied, shaking her head.
Trinity Thompson: I ain’t jumping any queue, that’d be disrespectful of all the girls and guys in the back who are working as hard as I do week in and week out. I’m just giving MUD a fair warning that I got my eyes set on his title ever since he won it. I didn’t make any excuse back in June, I definitely ain’t making one now but I had barely escaped from Nine’s grasp back then, and I just had so much going on. But now, XIX is all I got left. Here’s where my priority lies, the World title is my only goal. No distractions, no wrenches in my plan to stop me.
There was fire in her eyes, one the XIX fans had never seen before.
Trinity Thompson: I’m gonna go out there tonight and win my match. Next month, I’ll beat whoever they put against me. And so on, until they deem me worthy of a number one contenders match, or a shot at gold.
The statement of purpose elicited a roar of approval from the live crowd. Trinity smiled at the reaction before continuing.
Trinity Thompson: The XIX World Title has stayed in the MUD for too long already. It’s time someone else picks it up, gives it a good ole polish and carries the company into its future. I’m ready.
At that point, Amy could do nothing but wish her good luck for her match tonight and her goals. Trinity thanked her and waved at the fans watching at home before heading straight to the ring.
